FEF is a challenge fund supporting innovative projects in Africa that improve financial capability. Challenge funds provides grants in response to proposals that organisations make which meet the fund´s objectives. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis. In each funding round, applicants compete for funds and are assessed on the quality of their applications and the likely impact of the initiatives. The grants are awarded by an independent Investment Panel with expertise in financial education and related fields.
FEF has partnered with the Financial Education Partnership (FEP) to provide joint funding for projects in Kenya. FEP is a Financial Sector Deepening (FSD) Kenya initiative.
The FEF Investment Panel has announced the names of four projects that have been awarded grants. For more information about these go the Projects page.
The panel has also selected another six projects on a conditional basis. Details of these will be announced soon.
These 10 projects were selected from an original 110 concept notes that were submitted.
A second round of bidding will open later this year.
